Ayatollah Kashani :

Haj seyed Abolghasem Kashani, son of Haj Seyed Mostafa Kashani was born in 1264 solar year. At the age of 16 he went together with his father who was a known scholar of his time to Najaf and completed the Sath(seminary lectures) level of studies taught by his father and other scholars and then participated in the classes of ayat. Mirza m.t.shirazi and ayat. Akhund Khorasani and at the age of 25 he attained the Ejtehad degree( independent reasoning).since his youth, he had liberal thoughts thus he began combat against colonialism and despotism. In world war one when the British forces had occupied some of Iraqi towns, he joined the combatants and after 18 months of war and resistance, with the help of Ottoman government, the British forces were forced to surrender.Ayatollah Kashani came to Tehran in 1920 and continued his struggles against colonialists. In parliamentary elections, though he had been elected as Tehran representative, his name was written off and was arrested. After serving one year and four months in prison in Rasht,Arak, Kermanshah and bearing the hardest conditions, he was freed in 15/08/1945 and arrived in Tehran among welcome of throngs of people. He was again arrested in 1948 and exiled to Lebanon where he did not ignore the fate of people and in his statements to Iranian nation and parliament representatives, he admonished them regarding their duties and finally the notices proved useful and in elections of parliament 16, he and other combatants were elected and again in 1950 he returned to the homeland. He made assiduous efforts for nationalization of oil and finally in 1950 due to sacrifices of people one of wishes of Iranian nation came to realization and nationalization bill was approved in parliament. Finally this clergyman died in 1962 and his body was moved to Shahr-e-Rey and buried beside the shrine of Abdolazim.
