Examples of sit-ins in the holy shrine
1- During the clashes at Park Atabak, which took place after defeat of Mohammad ali shah and victory of constitutional fans in which state forces encircled the park to disarm the mujahedeen, Zarghamolsaltaneh Bakhtiari, among the mujahedeen leaders, due to his fear, fled Park Atabak and took refuge in Abdolazim shrine.(1328 lunar year)
2- Taking refuge and the sit-in of Haji Mirza abolhassan khan shirazi known as Ilchi(minister of foreign affairs at the time of Fathalishah qajar) following demise of Fathalishah and fall of 90-day kingdom of his son, Zellolsoltan and coming to throne of Mohammad shah through effort of Qaemmaqam Farahani due to his backing and support of succession to power of Zellolsoltan and his fear of harsh punishments of Qaemmagam
3- Sit-in by Mirza Abbas Bayat Irvani known as Haji mirza Aghassi, premier of Mohammad Shah Qajar, who after his death, due to panic of the antecedents and records of 13 years of premiership and of his court opponents and state opponents and foiling of his plan to make Abbas Mirza the regent(the junior brother of Nassereddin shah) fled before arrival of Nassereddin shah from Tabriz to Tehran and Iravani fled from Abbasieh palace in Shemiranat to Tehran and then went to Abdolazim shrine and took refuge there and after amnesty accorded by the shah he went to Iraq and resided there till his death(1264 Lunar year).
4- Seyed jamal asadabadi, the intellectual clergyman and freedom seeker , when faced opposition from Nassereddin shah and his premier Aminolsoltan during his second travel to Iran despite the invitation was made by the king, after leaving the home of Haj Amirolzarb went to Abdolazim shrine and preached against despotic kingdom and declared his creeds and finally he was arrested at night and banished to Kermanshah and then to Baghdad by 500 force cavalry.
5- Mirza reza kermani, follower of seyed jamal asadabadi who assassinated the king Nassereddin shah in 1313 H.L. before startup of 50th anniversary of his kingdom
6- In 1284 solar year, a large group of scholars and clergymen and freedom fighters led by two prominent clergymen i.e. seyed mohammad tabatabai and seyed abdollah behbahani and as supported by vast support of Iranian people in their first move towards establishment of constitutional rule and justice house staged a sit-in and took sanctuary there in holy shrine and finally, Mozaffareddin shah qajar and his premier gave in to their demands and the one-month sit-in which is known as the minor migration and which could be regarded as the most important sanctuary in the holy shrine came to an end upon victory of those in the sanctuary.
It is noteworthy that some time later and in the midst of the first constitutionalism a much stronger sit-in was staged under the title the great migration by the same people led by sheikh fazlollah nouri in the sacred shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh in Qom which finally caused Mozaffareddin shah to admit constitutional kingdom.
Among inauspicious events of sit-ins in Abdolazim sanctuary was the assassination of Mirza mostafa Ashtiani who was a staunch partisan of constitutional rule together with three of his partisans by some louts of Tehran under order of Sani hazrat which took place on March,25,1909(4,farvardin,1288) during the minor despotism.
8-during Mohammadali shah qajar rule and activity of first term of the national consultative assembly(parliament) and during hot deliberations and disputes on the matter of constitutionalism and religious rule and the procedure of connection of state rules with sacred religion the late sheikh fazlollah Nouri insisted on the necessity of conformity of passed bills and laws in the parliament with religion and for the same cause he went to Abdolazim shrine to explain his views and took sanctuary there. This event which needs detailed discussion happened in 1325 lunar year and continued for three months.
